This policy applies to all learners, staff, practitioners, contractors, volunteers and visitors of Nudge Education Online (NEO). NEO is a fully online alternative provision for learners aged 11–18, operated by Nudge Education Ltd. NEO is not a DfE-registered independent school and is not subject to Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) inspection. NEO is pursuing OEAS accreditation only.
About This Agreement
This Home-School Agreement is signed at admission by the learner, the parent or carer, and a representative of Nudge Education Online (NEO). It sets out the reciprocal commitments that make a NEO placement work: what NEO will do, what the learner will do, and what families will do. The Agreement is grounded in NEO’s six Cornerstones — Connection, Movement, Creativity, Reflection, Rest, and Nutrition — and in a relational, trauma-informed, neurodivergent-affirming approach to education. NEO is a fully online alternative provision for learners aged 11–18, operated by Nudge Education Ltd (Company Number 10192753). NEO is pursuing OEAS accreditation and is not a DfE-registered independent school.
What NEO Commits To
NEO will: Welcome your child as they are, and take time to understand what helps them feel safe, connected, and ready to learn. Deliver live lessons through qualified subject-specialist teachers, and provide a named practitioner who will be your child’s mentor and your main point of contact. Plan learning around your child’s strengths, needs, and aspirations, and review their individualised plan at least termly. Keep your child safe online by using only approved, monitored platforms (Google Classroom, Google Meet, and Google Workspace) and by applying robust filtering, monitoring, and safeguarding practices. Handle personal data responsibly, in line with UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and the ICO Children’s Code. Respond to concerns, complaints, and questions clearly and within the timeframes set out in the NEO Complaints Procedure. Communicate regularly about your child’s progress, wellbeing, and engagement — including written reports and scheduled review meetings. Make reasonable adjustments to support any Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND) and provide pastoral support for learners experiencing emotionally based school non-attendance (EBSNA) or anxiety. Celebrate effort, curiosity, and growth — not just attainment — and prepare your child for further study, training, employment, and adult life. Treat you as a partner in your child’s education, with clear routes to raise concerns and share information.
What the Learner Commits To
As a NEO learner, I will do my best to: Attend my live lessons when I am able, and let my practitioner know when something makes attending hard. Treat everyone at NEO — staff, other learners, and visitors — with kindness and respect. Follow the NEO Code of Respect and take a breath before reacting when something feels difficult. Use NEO platforms safely, keeping my account secure and keeping my communication for learning. Ask for help, a break, or an adjustment when I need one. I understand that asking is a strength. Speak to a trusted adult at NEO, or use the anonymous reporting route, if I have a concern about my safety or someone else’s. Take part in the Cornerstones — giving time to Movement, Rest, Nutrition, and Reflection alongside my academic work. Be honest about my learning and be curious about my strengths and what I want to grow into.
What Parents and Carers Commit To
As a parent or carer of a NEO learner, I will: Support my child to attend live lessons and engage with their learning, understanding that readiness builds gradually — especially after experiences of EBSNA or other barriers. Provide, so far as possible, a safe, quiet space for my child to learn, with access to a suitable device and internet connection. Where this is difficult, I will let NEO know so we can find a way through together. Keep NEO informed about anything affecting my child’s wellbeing, safety, or learning — including SEND information, safeguarding concerns, health changes, and family circumstances where relevant. Read and respond to communications from NEO within a reasonable timeframe, including reports, review meeting invitations, and safeguarding information. Engage constructively with my child’s named practitioner as the main point of contact, and attend review meetings where possible. Pay fees as set out in the NEO Terms and Conditions, understanding that public examination entry fees are charged separately from tuition fees. Give notice of withdrawal in line with the NEO Terms and Conditions (one full term, approximately 12 weeks). Support NEO’s online safety and digital consent expectations, including the approach set out in the NEO Digital Consent and AI Safety Parent Guide. Uphold the values of respect, inclusion, and anti-racism in all communication with NEO staff and other families. Contact NEO’s Designated Safeguarding Lead if I have any safeguarding concerns, and follow the NEO Complaints Procedure for any other concerns I cannot resolve informally.
Partnership Principles
This Agreement is built on five partnership principles: Respect: We speak to each other as partners. We disagree with care. Transparency: We share what matters, in time for it to help. Responsiveness: We reply, we show up, and we follow through on what we’ve agreed. Consent: We ask before we act. We do not assume. Curiosity: We ask “what does this learner need?” before “what is wrong?” If any party feels the Agreement is not being honoured, the NEO named practitioner is the first point of contact. If the concern cannot be resolved informally, it can be escalated through the NEO Complaints Procedure. Safeguarding concerns are handled separately, under the NEO Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy.
