Dogs in the office Policy December 2025

Date for Review December 2027

At Nudge Education, we strive to create a welcoming and inclusive work environment for all employees. We recognise that having dogs in the office can enhance workplace well-being and reduce stress. However, it is essential to ensure that the presence of dogs does not interfere with the comfort, safety, and productivity of our employees. This policy outlines the rules and responsibilities for employees who wish to bring their dogs to the office.

1. Supervision

  • Dogs must be supervised at all times by their owners or a designated person. Unattended dogs can create safety risks and disrupt the working environment.

2. Use of Leads in Communal Areas

  • All dogs must be kept on a lead in communal areas, such as corridors, meeting rooms, and shared office spaces. This ensures the safety and comfort of all employees and visitors.

3. Cleaning Up After Dogs

  • Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs both inside and outside the office premises.
  • Dog mess must be removed from the site and should not be disposed of in office or kitchen bins. Owners must ensure that all waste is appropriately bagged and disposed of in designated outdoor bins.

4. Notification of Dog Presence

  • It is the responsibility of the dog owner to inform their colleagues in advance that their dog will be in the building. This communication should be clear and provide an opportunity for colleagues to voice any concerns, particularly in cases of allergies or discomfort.

5. Allergies and Comfort Considerations

  • Dogs are not permitted in communal areas if any employee or visitor has an allergy or if the presence of the dog causes discomfort. Owners must be respectful and responsive to colleagues’ needs and adjust accordingly.

6. Preventing Damage to Property

  • Owners must ensure their dogs do not damage any property, including furniture, office equipment, or personal belongings. Any damage caused by a dog is the responsibility of the owner to repair or replace.

7. Minimising Distractions

  • Owners must ensure that their dogs do not create a distraction in the office environment. This includes preventing excessive barking, climbing on furniture, or engaging in behaviour that disrupts others. If a dog is found to be consistently disruptive, the owner may be asked to remove the dog from the premises.

8. General Responsibilities

  • All dog owners are expected to maintain a high standard of control and care over their pets while on-site.
  • Dogs must be well-behaved, house-trained, and up to date with vaccinations and flea treatments.
  • Owners should provide their dogs with adequate food, water, and comfort during their stay in the office.

Nudge Education Dog Policy December 2025 By adhering to this policy, we can ensure that having dogs in the office enhances our workplace experience without compromising the well-being, safety, and productivity of our team.
